About the Book

I wrote In Her Own Words because I imploded, I felt misaligned. I was crying on my way to work every day. On the outside, I was the very definition of success. I was on the executive team of a good company and I was making a difference in the world. Yet I felt like I was barely surviving. I wanted to learn the lessons I seemed to have missed along the way and knew the answers were held in the voices and stories of women. In my career, I had been surrounded by men and men’s stories, the voices of women had been drowned out for me. I also don’t think I understood how important women’s voices were for my thriving.

I wanted to hear from women who were dreaming the world. I wanted to know how they did it, what got in their way and how they overcame the obstacles that sometimes present themselves in life.

I interviewed twenty incredible women who are creating their own paths. From artists to politicians to entrepreneurs, each woman opened up to me about their life, their struggles and their joys. Each woman in her own way rose above the conditions of her life that encouraged her to play small to create their thriving life. It was through their stories that I reconnected with who I am.

The book has been created to get the reader curious about themselves, to let go of what holds them back and to act into the world from a place of wholeness and self-compassion.

Rich with insight and true wisdom… Through reminding and encouraging us to nurture ourselves, this book gives voice to a refreshing and much-needed message of hope for women – and men – to step into our gifts, cultivate the courage to take risks, and become our best selves.
